MONDAY MADNESS #20

The Beginning of Peace
or the Beginning of
the End?

President G. W. Bush has been pushing for a Palestinian/Israeli Summit meeting which is to be held later this month at Annapolis. In the meantime, he has been sending Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, over to the Middle East to apply pressure to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to concede more and more territory to the Palestinians, including the eastern part of Jerusalem to be the Capital of The proposed Palestinian State.

Now, I won’t bore you with the details, but all of this is in violation of God’s laws concerning Israel and especially Jerusalem, so I have to wonder why Bush is pushing for Israel to give up land and security, while the Palestinians are not required to concede anything. How can you have any sort of peace negotiations when it is all “one-sided”? Doesn’t it take two to tango? Israel is being pressured to give up much while the Palestinians sit across the table and smile sardonically and don’t have to give up a thing. You call this negotiating?

Bush may think that his “Road Map to peace”, is the cat’s meow and will lead to peace in the region, but I personally believe it is going to be a road map to hell, and here is why:

Going all the way back to the days of Yasser Arafat and the founding of the PLO and Fatah, when have the Palestinians ever adhered to any agreement they have ever signed? They certainly have not lived up to their end of either Oslo Agreements or the Camp David Accords, and nothing in-between, so what makes any one think this would be any different? The Palestinians have made it abundantly clear that they do not want peace with Israel of any sort; they want Israel totally wiped off the map.

Now lets take a look at the very words coming from the head of Hamas, the rival group of Fatah; “Israel thinks Fatah in the West Bank is there to serve it, but we will take over the West Bank the way we took over Gaza,” said Mahmoud al-Zahar, considered to be the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, at a rally held Friday in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Zahar became the most senior Hamas leader to publicly state that the Hamas terror group plans to seize the West Bank just as it took compete control of the Gaza Strip just this past June, wresting control over all U.S. backed Fatah security installations.

Al-Zahar went on to warn the Palestinian negotiating team not to make any core concessions to Israel during the summit. “Whoever relinquishes even one grain of Palestinian land severs an organ from himself. Palestinian land is one—from Rafah in the south to Rosh Hanikra in the north, from the Jordan River in the east to the Mediterranean sea in the west,” he said. All of this despite the fact that the Palestinian people have no historical claims to the land, but there is all sorts of historical proofs that the whole area belongs to Israel.

According to Israeli and Palestinian security officials, Hamas is setting the stage for a take over of the West Bank, which borders Jerusalem and is within rocket range of Tel Aviv and Israel’s international airport.

At the summit in Annapolis, it is widely expected, by the Bush administration, that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will outline a Palestinian State in most of the West Bank and hand over the strategic territory to the Fatah Prime Minister, Abbas, even though the Israeli Security officials have been warning that Abbas’ forces are not strong enough to contend with controlling the West Bank without the aid of the Israeli Defense forces.

The head of Israel’s Shin Bet Security Services, Yuval Diskin, said during a Knesset meeting last week that if control of the West Bank were handed over to Abbas, Israel would suffer a “significant threat to its security.”

I greatly fear that President Bush is pushing both Israel and the United States into a position that we will all regret. A situation that will lead to ever more blood shed, not only in the Middle East, but right here at home. Then of course there will be the retribution this country will receive from God Himself. I know that it is no longer politically correct to mention it, but screw political correctness, the Bible does state that those who bless Israel, God will bless them, and those who curse Israel, God will curse them. So think about it long and hard folks are we headed toward the beginning of peace or are we at the beginning of the end?
