SUNDAYS TWO-CENTS WORTH- #10

Some stuff I learned on my way to losing my mind:

Rudy: Illegal Immigration Not a Crime:

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani claims illegal immigration is not a crime. “It’s not a crime,” Giuliani stated on Friday. “I know that’s very hard for people to understand, but it’s not a federal crime.”

“I was U.S. attorney in the Southern district of New York,” he said. “So believe me, I know this. In fact, when you throw an immigrant out of the country, it’s not a criminal proceeding. It’s a civil proceeding.” He went on to say that it shouldn’t be a crime either, because the government wouldn’t be able to prosecute it. Then he added, “My solution is close the border to illegal immigration.”

Ok, let me see if I have this straight: we have FEDERAL Immigration laws on the books, but if you violate them, that is NOT a FEDERAL crime, it is a civil proceeding. Then how come the civil authorities (local law enforcement and local judges) cannot deport illegals. That order must come from the federal courts? Also, Rudy, if illegal immigration is NOT a crime, one cannot be an illegal immigrant, so how, pray tell, can your “solution” be to close the border to illegal immigration? If illegal immigration is not crime, there can be no such thing as illegal immigration, thus there is no need to close our borders. This is just one more thing to make you say: “Hmmmm.”

Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City has been a staunch defender of his city’s sanctuary policy, which prohibited city workers from reporting suspected illegal immigrants. The policy is claimed to make illegal immigrants feel that they can report crimes (well, how about letting them report themselves as being illegals), send their children to school or seek medical treatment (in other words, so that their kids can get a free education and they and their kids can receive free medical care all paid for by the legal tax paying citizens).

According to Mitt Romney, Giuliani’s statements show that he just doesn’t take the illegal immigration problem seriously. “His advocacy for sanctuary city policies and his troubling lack of interest in making enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws a priority puts him at odds with those who want to secure our borders and end illegal immigration.”

Hey Rudy, how can you call yourself a Republican? Say it ain’t so Rudy, say it ain’t so.

Former Durham, North Carolina Prosecutor Nifong Released from Jail after Just 24 hours:

Here is real heart-warming item for you. Former Durham County prosecutor, Mike Nifong waltzed out of jail Saturday morning after serving a 24 hour sentence for contempt of court charge imposed by a judge for lying to the court about critical DNA evidence in the Duke Lacrosse rape case.

Here we go again! I may be suffering from brain farts, so you will have to help me out on this one. Nifong attempts to “railroad” three innocent college students, members of the Duke University Lacrosse team and gets 24 hours in jail!

Nifong managed to win indictments against three Duke Lacrosse players, charging them with raping a woman who was hired to strip at a team party last March 2006. Nifong with-held vital information that would have exonerated the three accused players.

Even though the “victim” kept changing her story and at least one of the accused had proof that he was not involved, Nifong continued to push for their convictions and making false derogatory statements to the press and news media concerning the three young men, and even with-held evidence in their favor.

He destroyed the reputations and futures of the three innocent young men and cost their families millions of dollars in legal fees through his lies and deceit and all he gets is disbarment for more than twenty-four violations of the state’s rules of professional conduct, including the withholding of exculpatory DNA evidence and the making of numerous inflammatory comments about the accused, and then is given only 24 hours in jail. Well, I suppose in my state of dementia, this is fair.

Southwest Airline Flight Attendant Attempts to Remove Hooters Waitress From Plane Over Dress Issue:

Kyla Ebbert, a 23 year old college student, claimed that she was singled out after a male Southwest Airlines flight attendant told her that her white denim miniskirt, high heel sandals and sweater over a “tank-top” was too revealing.

“He told me my outfit was too provocative, too revealing for a family airline,” Ebbert told Fox News, wearing the same outfit she wore on the flight. “He told me that needed to go to the gift shop and buy a new outfit and change and get on a latter flight.” In a deal with the attendant, she then agreed to pull down her skirt as much as possible, tighten her sweater over her tank-top and place a blanket around herself. “I was humiliated”, Ebbert said. She is now planning a law suit against the airline.

Ebbert claims to have been humiliated, so how come she has been appearing on just about every television talk show? I saw her on the Fox News Channel wearing that outfit. She was standing up outside and I can honestly say that if that sash . . . oops, my bad! I meant miniskirt, was just a ¼” shorter, she would have had two more lips to put lipstick on and two more cheeks to powder.

I guess self-respect has become almost as extinct as the Andean Condor. I find it shocking when I see girls, in my neighborhood, as young as 11 years-old wearing low-cut “hip-hugging” jeans, so tight that they look like they are painted on, with their little thong briefs showing above the waist band of the jeans.

These people love to claim that they have the “RIGHT” to dress as they please. Well, this is true, but along with that right also comes personal responsibility. Ladies, and I use the term loosely, if you want to go out or send your little girls out in public looking like little street walkers, then you have to accept some of the blame when you are raped or your daughters are molested. You cannot dress like a street walker and then at the same time claim to be virtuous.

In another vein, last week when I was out walking with Munchkin, I happened to come upon two young women, in their mid-twenties, who were chatting about how difficult it was financially to raise their kids (neither woman was married). One of the women said that even though her boyfriend was helping, she was afraid that she would have to get a job. My heart bleeds.

First, this woman has three kids by three different men, none of which is her present “boy friend”. Each one a different shade of brown. The mother is white, the present boyfriend is native American, the father of one of her kids is African/American, the father of another is Hispanic. I am not certain about the third.

The other woman, who also is white, has four children and also no husband in the home. One child was white, one was part Asian, and the other two children were a mixture of white and African/American. I know these two women as they are neighbors of mine, and I can honestly say that none of the children were adopted by the mothers. These are the birth mothers.

I’m sorry, but I cannot find it within myself to feel sorry for either of these women. My sympathies are with the children. Where was these women’s “self-respect”? Why do so many churches and society in general condone such behavior? Churches, schools and even many of our politicians push real hard for same-sex marriages, but they do or say little in defense of traditional marriage.

I suppose that rather then accept personal responsibility; these women can claim to be suffering from a disease, perhaps “restless leg syndrome”. They have an inability to keep them closed.
