A Pascha message from

Very Rev. Archimandrite Gregori

WHAT IS THE MESSAGE OF PASCHA?

This year, Pascha (Easter) falls on 8, April. This is the most sacred and important Feast of the Orthodox Church. Without this day of the Resurrection, there would be no Church, no Salvation. This day marks the beginning of an explosion of joy that comes immediately after the fasting and spiritually intense period of Great Lent and Holy Week.

Starting with this day (Pascha) we enter a period that will last throughout the Paschal season over the next several weeks, during which we proclaim the glorious message of victory, love, and hope by proclaiming in loud and clear voices, ‘Christ is risen from the dead, trampling death by death, and to those in the tombs granting life’, in a beautiful hymn sung at the beginning of each Divine Liturgy in the Orthodox Church.

The message is very clear:

VICTORY: Christ’s victory over Death. This He accomplished when on the THIRD DAY, Jesus broke the bonds of death and the grave, rising body and soul and appeared to the three holy myrrh bearing women and to His Apostles.

LOVE: Christ’s abundant Love for mankind that He willing laid down His life, that through His death on the Cross and His resurrection from the Tomb, we can find forgiveness for our sins and salvation of our souls.

HOPE: A blessed Hope that we shall and will abide for ever with the Lord in heaven. That through our acceptance of God’s gift of Salvation, we too will become sons and daughters of the “Most High”.

So let us each boldly proclaim:

“Christos ANESTI!”

“Christ is risen!”

God Bless each of you;

Abouna +Gregori
