This scam is spreading fast, so be prepared should you receive this call. Most of us take summonses for jury duty seriously, but unfortunately, enough people shirk their civic duty which has led to the surfacing of a new and ominous fraud.
The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and your date of birth so he/she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. If you give out any of this information, BINGO; you have just had your identity stolen.
