Bob Barr Joins the Push
for Legalized Medical
Marijuana Use:

As a Republican congressman from Georgia, Bob Barr sponsored an amendment that blocked the District of Columbia from allowing medical marijuana use. Now he’s flip-flopped on pot and become a lobbyist for the Marijuana Policy Project.

"I, over the years, have taken a very strong stand on drug issues, but in light of the tremendous growth of government power since 9/11, it has forced me and other conservatives to go back and take a renewed look at how big and powerful we want the government to be in people’s lives,” said Barr, who left the House in 2003 after four terms (I hardly think that Barr is speaking for conservatives, as I find it extremely hard to believe that conservatives would support this medical marijuana ruse. The claim that those with cancer and other diseases need to smoke marijuana to counter act nausea and pain is a farce as there are plenty of medications for those purposes. This was the claim made in California, and once it was legalized there, every body and their mother were able to get a letter from doctors allowing them to purchase a smoke weed. All they had to do was go to a doctor, claim that they had headaches, anxiety, or whatever and they could purchase pot, and this includes kids).

Aaron Houston, the project’s government relations director, told The Politico that Barr "certainly would not have been the first person I would have expected to sign off to us, but I’m very pleased that he has. I’m very pleased that he has come around, and I hope he serves as an example to his former colleagues.” (Sure, he is probably getting a pretty pay off to lobby for the pot smokers).
